The All India Bar Examination [AIBE] came into existence in the year 2010 through a notification passed by the Legal Education Committee and the Bar Council of India. The main objective of the All India Bar Examination [AIBE] is to examine an Advocate’s capability to practice the profession of law in India.
Upon successful completion of the AIBE, candidates are awarded a “Certificate of Practice” which entitles them to practice law in India. Also, it is to be noted that the All India Bar Examination [AIBE] is a post-enrolment qualification and is only open for candidates who have enrolled themselves at their rspective State Bar Councils. To clarify further, a law student can get enrolled as an advocate, even form a law firm, but cannot practice before a Court of law without clearing the All India Bar Examination [AIBE].
The All India Bar Examination [AIBE] is conducted across 39 cities [as of now] and offers candidates the freedom to select their examination language from any of the 11 different languages offered. The exam [AIBE] contains 100 multiple-choice-questions [MCQs] and is an ‘open book exam’.
