“But as long as you remember what you have seen, then nothing is gone. As long as you remember, it is part of this story we have together.” ― Leslie Marmon Silko, Ceremony
Memories, nostalgia, tales and uncountable glimpses, this is what all the students who were a part of this fifth edition of Virudhaka are carrying back alongwith the medals, trophies and certificates they have earned. The four days of sporting at NLIU Bhopal was a wonderful experience for all, where the participants got the opportunity to fructify long hours of practise and prove their worth, upholding the glory of the institutes they hailed from.
Irrespective of who lost what game by the tiniest of margin, what truly mattered at the end was the fact that many emerged as better players, but most emerged as better comrades, teammates, friends and individuals.
New links, connections alongwith the revival of old acquaintances would be cherished by all. The one thing which this fest made sure is that no matter wherever the students maybe in future, they would break into a silent smile when encountered with the name of this University, with a flashback of recollections, sweet and savory flooding their minds.
The fest aimed to foster the values of loyalty, commitment, dedication, sportsmanship, perseverance and steadfastness amongst participants, widening the constricted panorama of law students that limited them only to academic attainments, leading way to a more holistic growth.
The winner of Virudhaka 2013 was National Law Institute University, Bhopal but being the host team the trophy was handed over to National Law University, Delhi. The best sportsperson award was given to Sanjeev Kumar of NLU-D.
What proves the success of the fest was that the participants saw it as something more than just mere scoreboards, balls, racquets, grounds, finish lines, pawns, and timers, but as an experience worth coming for and pursuing again. Hence, with Virudhaka’s fifth edition approaching its end, it once again remained true to its literal translation, being “ceaselessly spreading and all embracing” and bids a sporty farewell with the sincere assurance of its bigger and better return!
