[Media Report]
The second day at Virudhaka saw a multiplied flux of festivity and excitement; with no signs of any diminish. With the scores and positions of the previous qualifying matches, the teams had already done meticulous planning and equipped with the information about the opponents’ strengths and weaknesses, they had come all the more prepared. With the athletic events flagging off today, the races and jumps included 100m, 200m, 400m, 4 X 100m, 1500m races for Men and Women, 110m Hurdles, Triple Jump , Long Jump and High Jump also for Men and Women. With the teams better acquainted with each other, the air of camaraderie was common.
The quips and cracks exchanging between rival teams, the spontaneous slogans, the readiness of the supporters to spring up on their playing members upon victory, the assuring hugs and back pattings, everything was just the way a fabulous sporting event should embrace.
Amongst the various qualifiers and quarter matches that took place today, the prominent one was the enthralling Basketball quarters between National Law Institute University Bhopal and IIFM Bhopal, where the tie score of 42-42 was finally broken with the victory of NLIU Bhopal. Another noteworthy win was that of National Law University Delhi, that proved its mettle in the athletics events, winning many jumps and races. In the racquet games of table tennis and badminton, various teams performed well, like NIFT Bhopal winning the Women Semifinals in badminton. In the game of the genius, Chess, NLIU Bhopal bagged a Gold medal too. Volleyball, football, throwball and cricket also saw new teams coming up the total score tally.
Now the final day of Virudhaka approaches, with all the hopes and aspirations pinned up for the finals and semifinals. However, the intense pressure of performance was cooled off by the informal video-gaming events, fun events and quizzes, and the various food stalls that served to refresh the exhausted participants. Who says that law and sports sound odd together, this fest rubbishes any such cliched view! No matter who takes the medals and trophies tomorrow, the souvenirs of memories and bonds from the fest that the participants will cherish forever is what matters!
